Don’t EVER drink and drive
The kids in year 11 made this presentation about drinking and driving for our school this semester and my tutor asked if they would show it to us and tell us something about it. So we went there the first 45 minutes of our German lesson today. I gotta say it was really interesting, but also really shocking. They had made like this “countdown” of the second before you crash into the tree. And after that they showed us a PowerPoint presentation with some facts about drinking&driving and right after that they showed us a video from a campaign against drinking&driving. I was shocked at one point of the video. It was a really well used moment to get the messages across, but it was really heavy (I can’t find the right word to use right now) to watch. This is the video:
Please, take the time to watch this video. It doesn’t take too long – but it’s a minute that might change something.
After watching this one moment (I won’t say which one, because I don’t want to take away something) I was standing in that classroom with my mouth open and tears in my eyes. I also showed the video to my mum after I got back home today and she was really touched by it. She still doesn’t really know what to say.
Videos like this hopefully help to really bring the message across. You can’t make it any more obvious how bad drinking&driving is, but by showing how a normal day can turn into the worst day of your life – like this video did. I really can’t imagine how a person could live knowing that he or she is the reason why somebody lost his or her life.
To sum up this post: If you went to a party and drunk some alcohol – please don’t use your car or get into the car of somebody who had “just a few” drinks. Call a cap and make sure you and your friends get home save. Don’t risk your life by driving back home yourself. Just take a second and think about your family & friends and what they will have to get through if they lose you. AND take a second and think about the families and friends of the person that might get killed because you decided to drive home yourself – even though you are drunk and not in the condition to drive.
